DATA SECURITY
If you are concerned about the security of your data backup tapes, in-line tape encryption units allow tapes to be written and read "on the fly" - encrypted. You can then be sure that your data in transit cannot be read by an unauthorised third party. With two sites, two encryption units can be installed ensuring the security of your data on tapes being transferred between sites.
EXTENSION
A range of fibre channel extenders allows all IBM and most other tape drives to be located at a distance from the AS/400. The versions have support for both narrow (2621) HVD wide (6501, 6534, 2729 & 2749) or LVD wide (5702) features. Units are available from 100 metres up to 80 kilometres. The latest products utilise the fibre channel standard so allowing the use of switches and shared cabling.
SWITCHING
A range of switches allow a single tape drive to be shared between a number of AS/400 systems. Switching is controlled from the front panel of the unit.
